1652 Massachusetts Oak Tree Shilling IN at Bottom Noe-6 Rarity-7- PCGS Genuine, Fine Details, Edge Damage. Frosty medium silver with darker steel and gray in protected areas. No defects other than clipping that has reduced the weight to 43.9 grains. The clipping removed portions of the legend but the date and denomination are bold. Very late die state with significant swelling on the obverse side that has resulted in uneven wear on the Oak Tree. An acceptable example of this very rare variety. 1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Threepence Noe-34 Rarity-4 PCGS graded AU55. Variety with pellets on either side of the tree trunk. Very attractive glossy medium grayish steel with lighter silvery gray toning on the devices. The surfaces are smooth and void of any defects. The obverse (tree side) is misaligned to the top, as always on this variety, while the reverse is reasonably well centered on the planchet. The date and denomination are bold. This is the finer of the 2 examples of the variety contained in the famous John Ford Collection. A wonderful example of this tough denomination. Listed on page 41 in the "Redbook." (1787) John Bolen copy of the LIBERNATUS Pattern for Thomas Machin in copper Kenney-7 EF45. Choice glossy light chocolate brown with olive brown in protected areas. From the early, unbroken state of the dies. Essentially as struck with light friction on the highpoints. Struck by John Bolen of Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1869 with 40 made in copper. (1785) Bar Cent Breen-1145 W-8520 Rarity-4 PCGS graded AU53. Choice frosty medium brown. Smooth and nearly flawless with outstanding eye appeal. Just a light touch of rub on the highest points of the devices and a few trivial contact marks. The notable marks are a small pinprick left of the bottom serif of the S and a few smaller ones over the top of the A. Sharply and evenly struck slightly off center to K-4.5, as usual, affecting some dentils but none of the legends. The spike from the second bar is sharp, a feature that helps identify genuine examples of this rarity. A very nice example of this popular colonial issue that began circulating in New York circa 1785. Listed on page 76 in the "Redbook." PCGS population 8. Estimate Value $8,000 - UP

1791 Washington Cent with Large Eagle Breen-1206 PCGS Genuine, XF Details, Damage. Recolored glossy dark bluish steel and olive with traces of orangey tan in protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and there is just a bit of light friction on the highpoints of the devices. No spots or stains. The best identifying mark is a small planchet flake on the left center of the shield (as struck). There is no "Damage" as stated on the PCGS label. May benefit from a better retoning. Listed on page 83 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $300 - UP
